Series 'Pandan'

November 2024 Pandan, Linseed oil on Linen Canvas 2300mm x 5300mm The inspiration for "Series 'Pandan'" is driven by my interpretation of multiculturalism in Singapore's ecology. diverse cultural influences intermingle and coexist, resulting in a distinctive Singaporean identity. Similar to the role of pandan, which is integral to numerous traditional dishes in Singapore. My artistic endeavor seeks to highlight the richness and inclusivity inherent in Singaporean culture. "Series 'Pandan'" also emphasises the nature of pandan. The visual allure of pandan's intrinsic color is maintained through traditional color extraction methods, which are complemented by its distinctive olfactory characteristics. This dual sensory engagement enhances the vibrancy and dimensionality of the work, facilitating a more holistic understanding of the essence of pandan as a material.
